Marshall: God's sense of humor

Feast of Matthias the Apostle
Meditation:
Abraham was a hundred years old when his son Isaac was born to him. Sarah said, “God has brought me laughter, and everyone who hears about this will laugh with me.” And she added, “Who would have said to Abraham that Sarah would nurse children? Yet I have borne him a son in his old age.”
—Genesis 21:5-7 (NIV)
Quotation:
Whence comes this idea that if what we are doing is fun, it can’t be God’s will? The God who made giraffes, a baby’s fingernails, a puppy’s tail, a crooknecked squash, the bobwhite’s call, and a young girl’s giggle, has a sense of humor. Make no mistake about that.
... Catherine Marshall (1914-1983), “Joy,” in Christian Herald, v. 82, 1959, p. 33 (see the book)
