CQOD: 02/14/06 -- Whittier: one fixed trust

Christian Quotation of the Day

February 14, 2006
Feast of Cyril & Methodius, Missionaries to the Slavs, 869 & 885Commemoration of Valentine, Martyr at Rome, c.269
Meditation:
O taste and see that the LORD is good: blessed is the man that trusteth in him.
    -- Psalms 34:8 (KJV)

Quotation:
I see the wrong that round me lies, I feel the guilt within; I hear, with groan and travail-cries, The world confess its sin. Yet, in the maddening maze of things, And tossed by storm and flood, To one fixed trust my spirit clings I know that God is good!
    ... John Greenleaf Whittier (1807-1892)

Quiet time reflection:
Lord, I have tasted Your goodness, and I rise up refreshed.

How refreshing first thing in the morning to set your thoughts on "taste and see that the Lord is good"! The Lord is good in the midst of all that goes on in this world.
