CQOD: 06/23/07 -- Spurgeon: caring for the lost

Christian Quotation of the Day

June 23, 2007
Feast of Etheldreda, Abbess of Ely, c.678
Meditation:
Be merciful to those who doubt; snatch others from the fire and save them; to others show mercy, mixed with fear--hating even the clothing stained by corrupted flesh.
    -- Jude 22,23 (NIV)

Quotation:
If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for.
    ... C. H. Spurgeon (1834-1892)

Quiet time reflection:
Lord, let me not forget a single one you have sent me to.

Though both Jude and Spurgeon's quotes have probably inspired a lot of violent evangelism, they express the dire need for Christians to be engaged in ministry. Check out the last verses of Acts - thats what happens when the servants of God work hard. We need to get in the way of those who are hellbound: our prayers are always answered, and our testimony is never hindered.
